
Ingredients:
1/2′ cinnamon
1-2 green cardamoms
1 black cardamom
4-5 black peppercorns
1-2 petals of star anise
2-3 cloves
1/2 chopped onion
1/2 tomato chopped
1 slit green chilli
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/4 cup chopped fresh coriander
1/2 cup prawns
1 1/4 cup rice
Water
Salt
Oil
Method:
- Cook rice in a pot of water with a little salt.
- Meanwhile heat oil in a wide pan or pot on medium to high flame & saute all the whole spices- cinnamon, cloves, star anise, black peppercorns & the cardamoms for 1-2 mins.
- Add the green chillies along with the onions & saute till light golden. Then add in the ginger garlic paste & fry till the raw smell goes away.
- To this add the chopped tomatoes & saute for 2-3 mins. Once the tomatoes are soft add red chilli powder & turmeric.
- Lower heat & stir in the prawns along with some salt. Now stir for a few mins till prawns are cooked.
- Toss in the cooked rice & mix it all together making sure the rice is well coated in all the spices.
- Taste for salt & add in the freshly chopped coriander.
- Serve hot with raita.
