Ingredients:
500 gms Basmati rice
1-2 cloves
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 bay leaf
1/2 onion thinly sliced
1/2 cup green peas (I’ve used frozen peas)
Salt
2 tbsps Oil or Ghee
Water
Method:
- Heat oil/ghee in a non stick pot on medium heat. Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves and let them splutter for 1-2 minutes.
- Now add the sliced onions and cook till they turn translucent. Then add in the green peas and mix for a few minutes.
- Add the washed basmati rice and fry for 2-3 minutes. Now add enough water to cook the rice in, then add salt and give it a good stir.
- Cover with the lid and let it cook on medium heat for 12-15 minutes.
- Once done garnish with freshly chopped coriander.
- Goes best with Chicken Karahi
