Ingredients:
1 sheet puff pastry
1 pound or 500 gms beef cubes (I’ve used stewing meat)
1 cup sliced onions
2-3 green chillies
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
1 whisked egg
Salt
Oil
Method:
- To make the stuffing:
- In a pressure cooker & add the beef cubes, black pepper powder, salt & some water. Cover & pressure cook for 10-12 mins or till done.
- Meanwhile on medium flame, heat oil in a wok & saute the green chilli & sliced onions till slightly golden.
- To this add the ginger garlic paste & fry till the raw smell goes away. Now add chopped tomatoes & cook further till soft.
- Add red chilli powder, cumin & turmeric powder continue to saute for a minute.
- Once fragrant add the cooked beef pieces & mix together. Add salt if needed & cook on high flame for 3-4 minutes. When done remove from heat & keep aside to rest.
- To make the pie:
- Cut the pastry sheet into a circle, take the beef stuffing & place on to one side of the circle.
- Carefully take the other end of the pastry sheet & cover the beef stuffing, forming a half moon or the letter “D”.
- Seal the sides making sure the stuffing is secure within the pastry. Brush the top with egg & bake in a preheated oven & 230 C.
- Once done, cool for 10-15 mins then serve.
