Matar Paneer

Ingredients:

300-400 gms paneer
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp hing
1-2 bay leaves
1 onion chopped
1 tomato chopped
1 tsp ginger paste
1/2 cup green peas
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp turmeric
2 tsp coriander powder
1 tbsp yogurt or cream
Julienne ginger for garnishing
Salt
Oil

Method:

  • Heat oil in a deep pan on medium flame. Add cumin, hing & bay leaves & let them splutter.
  • Then add the chopped onions & fry till golden. To this add chopped tomatoes & ginger paste & saute till soft.
  • Once fragrant add the green peas & all the powdered spices like- turmeric, red chilli & coriander powder. Mix well & add 1/4 cup water.
  • Next add the paneer, salt & stir together. Once the paneer is well coated with the masala add yogurt or cream & mix again.
  • Once the paneer is soft, garnish with ginger & fresh coriander.
  • Serve hot with naan or jeera rice.
