Goan Prawn Curry with Okra

Ingredients:

1 Cup of Prawns
300 Grams Okra
1/2 cup sliced onions
1/2 Tomato chopped
2 green chillies sliced
3 tbsp oil
1 cup water
Salt

To be ground for the coconut paste
1/2 Coconut
8 Kashmiri/ dried red Chillies
1 Teaspoon cumin seeds
1 Tablespoon Dry corriander Seeds
1 Teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 Teaspoon black Peppercorns
Small Ball Tamrind (optional)
3 – 4 Garlic cloves
1 tbsp Vinegar

Method:

  • Grind all the ingredients for the coconut paste. Add a little water if needed to make a fine paste.
  • On medium heat, put oil in a pot and add the green chillies and sliced onions. 
  • Once the onions turn translucent add the tomato. Fry for 1-2 mins and add the coconut paste.
  • Mix well making sure you don’t burn the paste. Add the prawns, water, salt and cook until prawns are done. 
  • Bring to boil and add the okra as you do not want them to get too soft.
  • Serve with steamed rice.
