Ingredients:
500 gms beef (I’ve used diced sirloin)
1/2″ ginger piece bruised
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1/2 tsp turmeric
2-4 cloves
4-5 black peppercorns
1″ cinnamon
3-4 dried red kashmiri chillies
For the chilly fry-
4-6 green chillies julienne
1/2 potato cubed
1/2 cup sliced onions
1/4 tsp black pepper powder
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

Method:

  • Marinate beef in ginger-garlic paste, turmeric & salt. Let it rest for 4-6 hours or overnight.
  • In a pressure cooker (I’ve used an Instant pot) heat a little oil & saute the bruised ginger, cinnamon, black peppercorns, cloves & red chillies.
  • Once fragrant add the marinated beef & let it pressure cook for 10-12 mins.
  • To make the chilly fry, heat oil (enough oil to shallow fry) on a medium flame in a wok/kadhai & fry the diced potatoes. Once browned remove from pot & keep aside to use later.
  • In the same wok saute green chillies & the sliced onions. Once golden add the ginger-garlic paste till the raw smell goes away.
  • Now add the cooked beef pieces & potatoes. Mix it all well together.
  • Add in the black pepper powder & 2-3 tbsp of water.
  • Once done garnish with fresh coriander if preferred & serve as a side dish or with bread.
